FCI - Fédération Cynologique Internationale, was founded in 1911, with the aim of the development and protection of cynology and purebred dog breeding by the cynological clubs of the European countries (Austria, Belgium, Germany, The Netherlands and France). During the First World War it ceased to exist and was restarted in 1921, on the initiative of the Belgian and French cynological organizations. The central office is in Belgium (Tueen).
The federation consists of national kennel organizations of 98 countries, one from each country. From Ukraine the Cynological Union of Ukraine is part of the FCI.
The main activities of the federation:
✓Іnternational coordination body, providing recognition of pedigrees of purebred dogs and judges' qualifications at the international level
✓Development and publication of rules of pedigree breeding
✓еxamination of data provided by the applicant Kennel Club on the origin, history of formation, original purpose and current state of the breed
✓drafting and publication of international show rules
✓Organizing and sponsoring annual World Dog Shows and other international dog shows.
As of today 349 breeds of dogs are recognized and registered in the FCI system. Each of which has its own country - the breed's breeder
